Below:
This marked example is early war construction made from tombac base metal. As per design stipulation, the wreath is silvered then frosted with highlights polished and the eagle blued. There is the marker mark for Deumer, which is stamped into the back of the eagle in two lines.
This is a textbook example of an early war-time Deumer observer badge. However, this piece is made from 'Juncker' parts. Notice the typical Deumer trait in the deep channel ground out above the hinge

Above:
A stunning example of the earliest known examples from Deumer. These are always unmarked but display the typical traits found on later, marked examples.
Notice the heavy frosting of the wreath, which appears to be of base metal called neusilber (nickel-silver). The piece is finely executed, of very slim manufacture and high quality finish and the high points of the wreath polished to a mirror finish. This is all hidden now with years of patina and tarnish.
On the reverse are hand-scratched details of the recipient, squadron and airfield location.
