Top row: This Assmann pilot badge is constructed from
tombac. The reverse of the eagle is marked with the Assmann 'A'. The wreath is frosted with the highlights burnished,
the eagle is blued and the swastika polished to provide contrast (this was probably done by the recipient).
Overall,
the badge is in excellent condition, not much wear but enough to show that it was worn. The pin has 2 rubbed areas from
the loops of the tunic and a little bit of rubbing on the reverse tips of both wings.
Bottom row:
An unusual Assmann badge, in that the wreath is tombac,
while the eagle is aluminium. The reverse of the eagle is unmarked, but the Assmann 'A' can be found on the upper left reverse
of the wreath.
Overall, the badge is in good condition, but there is a repair to the pin where it is attached to the
hinge.
