The Observer Badge was instituted in March 1936,
for those aircrew who had successfully completed the Observer course. As with the pilots badge, the eagle was blued and
the wreath silvered, materials are the same as all other luftwaffe badges and follows the same deterioration of material quality
towards the end of the war.
The badge was worn on the left breast pocket, and below the
Iron Cross, if awarded.
